Understanding the Colorado Martial Arts Council
Your guide to our mission, membership, and focus on traditional form-based disciplines such as Taekwondo, Tang Soo Do, and Karate.
What is the Colorado Martial Arts Council (CMAC)?
The Colorado Martial Arts Council is a statewide organization dedicated to preserving and promoting traditional martial arts such as Taekwondo, Tang Soo Do, and Karate. We focus on systems that include structured forms (poomsae, hyung, kata) as part of their curriculum, emphasizing discipline, respect, and technical excellence.
What types of martial arts are included under CMAC?
CMAC’s scope is limited to traditional form-based martial arts such as Taekwondo, Tang Soo Do, and Karate. While we respect all styles, our focus is on arts that maintain a structured progression through forms, self-defense, and character development.
Who can join CMAC?
Membership is open to schools, instructors, and practitioners in Colorado who teach or train in recognized traditional martial arts that include forms. Whether you represent a single dojang or an established federation, you’re welcome to apply for membership and participate in CMAC events.
What are the benefits of joining CMAC?
Members gain access to official events, rank recognition opportunities, instructor certifications, and collaboration with other traditional schools statewide. CMAC also supports seminars, tournaments, and self-defense programs that reflect the highest standards of traditional martial arts.
